Proposal by Independent Social Movement ResidentiBeltin – 02/02/2021 © (Digital & Published Rights)

A dedicated tribunal and board would be established within the police station or the Local Council itself, composed of representatives from the Police and the Courts, so that civil complaints (not of a serious nature) arising within the locality can be resolved on the spot.

No resident should face delays/bureaucracy/exorbitant fees when cases are filed at the Courts. Furthermore, this would benefit the Courts by helping them avoid further overcrowding of people and/or cases.

This Unit could be established within the Local Council building.

In this same Justice building (City Hall), fines and penalties could also be contested, among other proposals.

Community Police

Proposal by Independent Social Movement ResidentiBeltin – 15/10/2020 © (Digital & Published Rights)

We believe the Police deserve far better offices than where they are currently stationed.

We believe they should have two reserved parking spaces in front of a new station in a central location where they can operate efficiently. We also believe the Police should be free from all forms of political interference.

We also believe that the Police of Valletta and every branch thereof should be dedicated exclusively to our locality and not split between two localities.

*Every proposal will be solidified and improved once the Council, under our leadership, convenes public meetings with residents.
